10:29 lol. An American In Paris is a very different beast of a movie than Singin' in the Rain. It's not as fun as other MGM musicals (although there is fun to be had) but it's better described as a more intellectual viewing experience. The film is light on plot like other classic Hollywood musicals but there is much going on internally between and within the characters. Simply put, this movie musical is dark. Gene Kelly's role of Jerry Mulligan is a cynical loser who is not a very successful painter (although I do like when he tells of the pretentious art student, telling it like it is. Likewise the romance between Jerry and Lise Bouvier (Leslie Caron) is a hopeful but not entirely a happy one. Even with Kelly and Caron ending up together at the end, the character relationships in the film are never resolved. During the film I kept thinking is she not better off with Henri Baurel (Georges Guetary) The guy who is a successful actor and saved your life during the war or the loser whom you only recently met? Likewise in Milo Robert's (Nina Foch) final appearance she states "I think I need some champagne" and is never heard or seen again. Even though her character denies wanting more with Kelly than championship and only wants to help him professionally in a surprising prostitution reference ( If you're hard up for companionship there are guys in town who do this kind of thing for a living, call one of them. I never felt convinced by this. Who says classic Hollywood is all just happy endings?
An American In Paris is the perfect display of the artistry of director Vincente Minnelli. He found French painting an inspiration for his own style; a skill he would incorporate into other productions such as Lust for Life. There couldn't be a better or more obvious choice of director for An American In Paris than Minnelli. Not many other directors can use space as effective as Minnelli and display such a fluid motion of the camera. Just look as the film's introductory sequence to Gene Kelly and his chums or the shot of Kelly walking down several flights of stairs in his apartment building; thus I can forgive the very visible camera shake 47 minutes into the movie during the Tra-la-la number. Even though he was a contract director (he made 33 films, only three made outside of MGM) he rose above these constraints and formed his own style whereas contract directors where usually assigned to conform to the studio's standard and aesthetic. Whether or not he can be classified as an auteur there has been no other filmmaker like him in Hollywood history.
The film's sets themselves look like they've been lived in instead of coming off as totally shiny and glossy with frames still looking like Paris as the impressionists saw it. Have neighbourhoods in Paris ever looked like this or is it just movie fantasy? Likewise take in the appearance of the Beatnick nightclub and observe the early incarnation to the modern day world of the hipster.
Kelly's ability to dance alongside children and interact with them is something no one could do better than him which is evident from the genuine reactions from the on looking kids during the I Got Rhythm number; truly the dancing figure for the everyman. Leslie Caron's introductory ballet sequence on the other hand is a Technicolor assault on the senses; the backgrounds are one solid colour while she wears dresses which totally contrasts them. Could you ask for a more memorable first ever screen appearance; complete with a sexual chair dance and one flexible body. Likewise the contradictory humour from the sequence's narration always makes me laugh. Another major musical highlight is Oscar Levant's dream sequence which reminds of the Buster Keaton short The Playhouse in which every member of the theatre is played by Keaton; likewise here he have an army of Oscar Levant. The sequence was actually his idea and along with the character he portrays in the film reflects his real life personality as a neurotic. The appearance and the colours of the sequence definitely remind me of Powell and Pressburger; surely the filmmakers must have taken inspiration.
They do save the best for last however in the form of the American In Paris Ballet; among one of the greatest things ever committed to film. A sequence which takes full advantage of cinema as an art form; could the entire thing be recreated on the stage? Watch French impressionism come to life in a 17 minutes feast for the senses which is artful without being artsy. There's chorography and then there's this with so many people moving, dancing and doing their own thing; with Gene Kelly's graceful yet masculine dancing still being at the centre of it. Fred Astaire once said he didn't want the camera to dance for him but rather stay stationary with as few cuts as possible. Kelly's style is very much the opposite of this in that the camera movement is integral to the dance but doesn't take away from his talent, not one bit. Yet I haven't I even mentioned the music of Gershwin; could it be more lush and rich.

When this was over, the crowd was ecstatic and applauding wildly but Beethoven heard none of it.  The first violinist went to him and turned him around so he could see their reaction to his masterpiece. There are a few things in history that I wish I could time travel back and see and one of them would be the first performance of this with Beethoven himself conducting. The 1949 is my absolute favorite, Liz Taylor and June Allyson, they were wonderful. Margaret OBrien as well, such a great movie. This seems like they just want to overdo it and its mediocre.

This is a story that has already been adapted to the screen for both film and television several times since 1933 as well as for theatrical productions both big and small. Director Greta Gerwig, using source material she clearly adores, somehow manages to bring this already familiar story to life in a burst of fresh energy that stands as one of 2019's very best films.
Set during the Civil War in Concord, Massachusetts, the four March sisters struggle to make it in the world as their selves who can live the way they desire despite the overwhelming pressures and obsessions by society for them to fill certain social and gender roles and get married to a wealthy man who can provide for them.
Leading the story is Jo March, played with both confidence and vulnerability by a lovely Saorise Ronan. Jo is a determined writer, wanting her stories to be told and searching for her place in a world she feels lost in. Ronan gives her best performance since "Brooklyn" in 2015, bringing this iconic character to life with sincere sadness and drive that makes us fall in love with her from the very start. Somewhat similar to her "Lady Bird" character Christine from 2017, Ronan captures the pressure and hardships of growing up as a young woman uncertain about where her destiny lies and fully embodies every aspect of this complex character.
Amy, the rambunctious yet equally ambitious painter, has always been the most hated character in "Little Women, yet rising star Florence Pugh (who was extraordinary in the summer horror "Midsommar" gives Amy the roundness her character deserves. Amy is a girl we love to hate one second because of how obnoxious she is and then moments later empathize with her due to how she feels inferior to Jo. Pugh also brings a fun comedic relief to the story and shines as an actress in her element amongst an already star-studded cast.
Emma Watson is splendid as Meg March, an aspiring actress with the most sense out of the sisters and is always there to keep her sisters in line whenever Jo and Amy fight. Watson brings an intelligent charisma and grace to the screen similar to her work in the "Harry Potter" films as Hermione that shines in every scene. The fourth of the March Sisters, Beth (Eliza Scanlen) is mildly explored as the talented piano player who is given the least screen time and serves as more of a supporting character to build up the others' stories.
Superb as always, Laura Dern is the Marchs' mother Marmee, who does her best to guide her daughters through their difficult situation of being of modest income and having their father fighting the Confederacy in the Civil War. Meryl Streep also shines as the sisters' wealthy Aunt, who like Florence Pugh brings wonderful humor to the story.
Connecting many of the sisters is Timothée Chalamet's Theodore "Laurie" Laurence, the soft-spoken and charming wealthy neighbor of the March's who takes a romantic interest in both Jo and Amy during the story. Chalamet is at his best in roles such as this where the actor can portray vulnerable men who struggle to get love as he did in 2017's "Call Me By Your Name."
Greta Gerwig is at the peak of her powers as a filmmaker in this film. She confidently trusts herself with such a big story and cast and manages to execute a film that warms the soul. Releasing "Little Women" around the Holidays was the perfect choice due to how vital a film like this is around such a time. This timeless tale of family and love can move even the most cynical of people. Thanks to the fresh adaptation by Gerwig who utilizes the film's gorgeous costumes, elaborate production, and charming score by the great Alexander Desplat, this adaptation is one for a new generation and a film that will be a classic amongst an already universal story.
Gerwig may have underused the character of Meg and undeveloped certain relationships between character duos, yet this feel-good film is too focused on its lovable characters to not enjoy it. This is a wonderful adaptation that is one of the best remakes of all time and one of 2019s biggest gems. No film has surprised me by how much I enjoyed it more than this in years.

Who the hell gave this a ten? I'll tell you who.
The type who is at heart pathetic. The type who fears everything non PC. This movie is no where near as good as the 90's adaptation. No where near.
Some scenes don't make sense as they don't even have any part of the movie.

This movie, however, was not fun worth my losing sleep. The costumes, music, dancing, and cinematography are beautiful sure, but the story simply did not move me. My mom always spoke fondly of the Wynona Ryder version so I was expecting something grand and less provincial than this ultimately was. My main complaint is that the film was far too long for such little conflict. I hardly felt any attachment for any of the sisters other than my acknowledging their beauty and aesthetic pleasantness.

Call Me By Your Name. Could evolve into a Daniel Day Lewis if he stays on track. Once in a while, you see someone become a star and it sticks with you. That's how you get an Oscar nomination 💕.

Ive always believed that you can clearly see the difference in Chandler during the seasons he was sober vs. the seasons where he wasnt. A lot of fans either dont know he struggled with addiction or dont notice it, but Ive always thought it was kind of painful to watch him in those seasons because of what he was going through. But that's not all there is to it: because every year, there's some kind of hidden gem of an episode that's a shining example of great television, along with the scary, funny, tense episodes we have all come to expect from this show. One of its strongest merits is its constant adaptability. There are different writers almost every week, different companions every other series, different doctors, different locations, directors, genres, threats and ideas. For every one abysmal episode (and there are a few of them) there are some absolutely stunning ones too. I'd recommend Heaven Sent, Bad Wolf/Parting of the Ways, The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances, Blink, The Pandorica Opens, A Good Man Goes to War, Asylum of the Daleks, Flatline, and The Day of the Doctor. It's a show that never dies. Of course, it will get cancelled at some point, maybe, just as it did before; and then it will live on. It will get picked up again. TV just isn't the same without it.
If you're new, it's best to start with some classic stand-alone stories to get into them. Maybe try a few from each series to work out who your favourite Doctor/companion combination are. 'Smith and Jones' is a lovely episode to start with (it's where I started) the season 3 opener, with a new, companion, a reintroduction to the Tenth Doctor, and a wholly entertaining episode. Other great places to start are Rose (although there's a lot of catching up to do) The Eleventh Hour (a completely brand new start- perfect if you know absolutely nothing about anything in the show) and Deep Breath (an introduction to the current Doctor, with a few entertaining characters who have already been in the show before. Generally, starting with a Series 1-4 episode will be much easier, with simpler stories, a new companion/Doctor each series, and some enjoyable, if upsetting, season finales. Series 6-9 are harder to start at, with characters carried over from previous seasons, and plot lines and mysteries also carried on with. The individual episodes within the seasons, however, need no foreknowledge at all: for Season 6, be sure to try The Doctor's Wife and The Girl Who Waited; Season 7, try Asylum of the Daleks, Dinosaurs on a Spaceship and The Bells of St John; Season 8, try Flatline, Listen, or Kill the Moon; and Season 9, try The Girl Who Died/The Woman Who Lived, The Zygon Invasion/Inversion; and Heaven Sent (which is absolutely incredible. It's a lot of episodes, which for some seems too much. For me, however, it's never enough.

I think that the Socially Awkward bit fits in well for the Doctor in General (moreso for, say, Capaldi's) and I do see elements of this trait in Whitaker's, so I didn't find that out of place. This movie was like "the amazing spiderman" movies that totally trumped the terrible first spiderman trilogy. This movie was scary at times, but all around a great watch. It isn't based off any of the previous movies or actors and it was not "between " any movies. They referenced 1 image from the first movie for 1 second, and showed the old house (same few second clip 2 times) but before it burned down (meaning they ditched the first 3 movies altogether. This was an amazing First edition to hopefully another grudge trilogy. Again, the acting was amazing. Genuine people will love it. Fake people will bash it. They went into the movie assuming it would suck and they made themself have a bad time. Go in with a good positive attitude, and I'm sure you'll love it! Don't be a Karen.

Playmobil: A. Playmobil 3a a film festival. Playmobil film deutsch. Playmobil a film online. But why, it was a perfect trilogy, and the 3rd one ended perfectly. Als nächstes dann ein Film zu K'Nex. YouTube. Playmobil filmpjes nederlands. Playmobil filmpjes nederlands ziekenhuis. My expectations for Playmobil: The Movie were very low, and I still thought this was a very weak movie. The best thing going for this movie is the Animation style. There is at least a good amount of effort put into it and it's not an ugly movie from that point of view. I thought the scenes outside the Playmobil universe were really awful like that kid who was bad at acting. The Playmobil universe stuff fairs a tiny bit better, but it was still very predictable and basically felt like a very watered down Lego Movie, with almost all of the jokes falling flat. The movie being a Musical did catch me off guard and I respect them trying, but honestly all the songs are forgettable. There's not really any memorable characters or locations either, which doesn't help alleviate the blandness at all.
Is Playmobil: The Movie the worst thing you could watch? Certainly not. However, the kids in my cinema were not laughing all that much in this movie, and the adults just didn't seem to be all that engaged watching this movie at all. This is a very straightforward story and at least the plot doesn't have too much pointless filler like some other Animated movies I've seen this year like The Queen's Corgi and The Secret Life of Pets 2. However, with The Angry Birds Movie 2 out at the same time, I'd feel that one is the better watch out of the two as the kids were having a great time watching that movie compared to Playmobil. In all honestly, I was kind of hoping Playmobil: The Movie might have been a decent Animated movie to watch, but sadly it's just a bit of a bore.

А пока братишка борется с врагами (в придачу ещё обзавелся бородой и секирой), Марла находит новых друзей! Понравился Делл  — весёлый и неунывающий водитель грузовичка. Своим делом, напомнил Эмметта из первого мультфильма «Лего». Только жажда наживы у него переваливает. Ну, а на обоятельного Рекса Дэшера ( Дэниэл Рэдклифф) невозможно налюбоваться. Секретный агент, напомнил того Бэтмена, естественно игрушечного. Но самое удивительное, что здесь нет любовной линии, на которой стоит Марла. Да, дебютный проект Лино ДиСальво — до этого работавший в озвучке голубя Винни из «Вольта» (а здесь заговорит голосом влюбчивого робота) получился увлекательным зрелищем, от которого отрываться неохота. Just as Playmobil, a toy range invented in 1974, is like Lego with less scope for creativity, Playmobil: The Movie is much like The Lego Movie without the clever ideas. This is a generic ‘rediscovering the joy of childhood’ movie with merchandise opportunities grafted on. Marla ( Taylor-Joy) is a teenager excited about embarking on a trip around the world. All the characters look like Playmobil figures but they just act like regular humans. There’s no fun had with the limits of figures with legs that don’t move independently, hands shaped like cup-holders and largely identical faces. The journey through different worlds – cowboy, Viking, futuristic, fantasy – is because Playmobil makes those ranges. There’s little effort to give it more internal logic than that, and none of the confident self-effacement of The Lego Movie or Pokémon: Detective Pikachu. There are injections of enjoyable surreality, mostly from a Daniel Radcliffe -voiced secret agent who is both a master of disguise and kind of an idiot, but not nearly enough. As it is, it’s just a gently pleasant kid-distraction. Everybody knows that movies based on toys are made to try and sell more toys, but it’s very much appreciated when they put some effort into disguising that. This movie does NOT try to be a clone of the Lego movies. Strangely, most reviews I have read seem to have a problem with that. The Playmobil movie is not full of meta jokes or references to other movies. The movie does not make fun of the quirks of old Playmobil sets. It's not self-aware. The characters don't know that they are toys. The fairy godmother behaves exactly like a fairy godmother; she's not behaving oddly or making sarcastic jokes. If you are expecting all those things, you are simply in the wrong movie.
The Playmobil movie is exclusively targeting children, not adolescents or adults. From this point of view, it's a solid movie. The 3D animation looks a bit outdated but it brings very well the look and feel of the Playmobil toys to the big screen. The story is okay but I think it would have been better to spend more time on the characters instead of rushing through the different sceneries. There are locations that don't contribute anything to the story (e.g. the scene with the lava and the dinosaurs on the road) while potentially interesting characters like the fairy only have a short appearance. But again, that's me as an adult overanalyzing a children movie. Children will probably enjoy to see all their favourite Playmobil themes.

Same japanese romantic movie, nothing really special. Skip it. When I first watched the film, I thought the pacing was way too quick for me to actually understand what was going on. Although I will say that the fire fighter scenes were pretty intense regardless if they were only training or had to attend buildings that were on fire due to fireworks.
I understood this films backdrop involving the feeling of losing someone through drowning and honestly the ending was a near hard hitter for me. However I would have liked if the couples experience together was more in depth because as I said yet again, it was rather rushed. It didn't give much in depth either with the other guy who had a crush on her or if he was going for someone else. Since I'm not gonna say spoilers to telling you who's who, it's best to watch the film.
Animation wise, it was pretty alright. Not amazeballs but it was easy on the eyes at least.
As much as the film did offer a bit of emotion, it's not the ultimate worse or disappointment I've ever seen. However room for improvement is what it definitely definitely needs in terms of story pace development.
